As per data available with this Ministry approximately 1.33 million Indian students are currently pursuing higher education in different countries around the world. Some of the prominent destination countries with large concentration of Indian students are Canada, USA, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, UAE, Russia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Philippines, France etc.

Global Indian Students website aims to provide multifaceted information with the objective to assist Indian students aspiring to go abroad to pursue higher studies. The website would also be useful for students who are already studying abroad and for the alumni students of foreign universities.

The website will help the students to find authentic and validated information on - education institutions in different countries, scholarships, equivalence/recognition of degree from Foreign Universities, advisories for students, bank loans, contact details of student welfare officers in Indian Embassies/ High Commissions of the destination country etc.
